Convert between JPG, PNG and WebP with safe handling of transparency.
Compress JPG, PNG and WebP images to a specific file size such as 100KB, 50KB or 20KB, or set the quality yourself. Cap the width for big photos, compare before and after, and see exactly how many kilobytes you saved.

PNG is lossless, so there is no quality setting.
Downscaling large photos is often the biggest saving. Images are never enlarged.
Lossy vs. lossless
JPG and WebP are lossy: they discard fine detail you rarely notice to save space. PNG is lossless: every pixel is kept, so re-saving a PNG rarely shrinks it much. For transparent images, WebP keeps transparency with far smaller files.
A 4000-pixel photo shown at 1080 pixels wastes most of its data. Capping the width often saves more than lowering quality.
Use the comparison slider to inspect skin, small text and skies. These show compression artifacts first; raise quality if you see blockiness or banding.
Social networks re-compress uploads. Starting from a clean, high-quality file at the right size gives the best result. Read how to compress images without losing visible quality.
Choose Target file size, select 100 KB (or type any size), and press Compress. The tool finds the highest quality that fits under your target and only reduces the dimensions if quality alone isn't enough. If the target is impossible for that image, it tells you and gives you the smallest version instead.
Every lossy compression removes some data, but at quality 70–85 most photos look identical to the original at a fraction of the size. Lowering the dimensions to what you actually display usually saves far more than lowering quality.
Some files are already highly optimized, and re-saving a PNG or a low-quality JPG at a higher quality can add bytes. The tool always shows the real result and warns you when the output is larger, so you can keep your original.
PNG and WebP keep transparency. JPG cannot store it, so transparent areas are filled with the background color you choose.
For photos, 70–80 usually looks the same as the original at a fraction of the size. Graphics with sharp text may need 85–90, or PNG.
No. Compression runs entirely in your browser. Your images never leave your device.
No. The compressed image is re-encoded from its pixels, which strips EXIF metadata such as GPS location and camera details.
